What is the accuracy of the ZEPHYRx Home Spirometer?
The Spirobank Smart by MIR Inc., is accurate to the following:
- The MIR Spirobank Smart is FDA-cleared, highly accurate, and certified against international standards: ATS/ERS 2005, ISO 26782, and ISO 23747.
- Flow sensor: bi-directional digital turbine (propeller interrupts LED light)
- Flow range: ±16L/s
- Volume accuracy: ±3% or 50 mL
- Flow accuracy: ±5% or 200 mL/s
- Dynamic resistance: <0.5 cm H2O/L/s
The MIR Spirobank Smart has been used in many clinical trials around the world with great success. It has been tested to full ATS standards. Many CF clinics and the CFF report that the MIR Spirobank Smart matches very well to in-clinic lab results. In fact the same technology used in the Spirobank Smart is used in the MIR spirometers that they sell for in-clinic lab testing.
Troubleshooting
If there is a large discrepancy between in-clinic lab results and results on the Spirobank Smart, please verify the following:
- The device must also be assembled properly for accurate results. Be sure that the mouthpiece is inserted as far as it can go into the turbine, and that the orange part of the turbine is inserted in the orange part of the rectangular battery casing (orange to orange). Once the turbine is inserted such that it sticks out of the back of the casing by a ¼ inch, give the turbine a quarter turn to lock it in place
- make sure that the demographic information (for generation of GLI 2012 predicted values) entered in the app is still correct
